Summer time out & why it’s important to slow down

It’s holiday time! Your business might be important, but you shouldn’t let it get in the way of you having some summer time out, reaching for a hammock and sipping a Pina-colada.

Holidays are essential for recharging your batteries and supporting your overall well-being. In fact, avoiding that well deserved break could lead to burn out, where you’ll be forced to take time off.

During this blog, I’ll explore the importance of summer time out and why you need to slow down.

Family Time

It is so very easy to feel the tug of war of expectations, challenges, self-imposed commitments, technology and so much more. Taking some time out over the summer with the family, can ensure your family stay connected and bonded with each other and give you a much needed break. Plus, summer time out offers a wonderful opportunity for families to curate happy memories.

In the age of the internet, we are all leading virtual lives, sometimes we just need a break from all this and get back to our roots. A family holiday is a great way of doing this. It is also a great opportunity for more personal interaction with the people around you as well as with the environment.

Travel is a quite limited at the moment, but there is still plenty to see and do in this country. It’s important that even in a limited capacity, you still go out and explore and discover. Travel connects people and provides opportunities to learn new cultures, which can help increase your empathy towards others. It can also help improve your overall tolerance, reduce biases and even decrease frustration – although, I think that depends on how your travel experience fairs….

If you’d like a hassle-free journey, then we’d be happy to take care of all the arrangements on your behalf. We can make the personal travel arrangements for your entire family, including researching locations and things to do when you arrive. Brief us on your requirements and leave the rest to us.

Down Time

It’s not always about having time out, but also about taking things a little slower. Could you reduce some of your commitments over the summer? Or how about taking longer lunch breaks? Rewarding yourself with a little down time during the summer, can really make all the difference to your well-being.

If you’re not sure how to manage your time to achieve ‘down time success’, take a look at my online course ‘More Time Less Stress, Easily achieved in 5 simple steps’.  The course takes you through the top tips I use everyday in my business, to manage my time successfully – it’s your ticket to a more balanced lifestyle.

Exploring new things

Exploring new things could actually improve your work in the long term – it’s true! Immersing yourself in new activities increases your brain’s ability to move between different ideas, think more deeply, and integrate thoughts. Of course, that’s not to mention how just taking time away from work can increase your energy and productivity. If your not sure where to start, take a look at this list from Wit & Delight, for a fun list of activities to try. Curiosity to learn and try new things should just get stronger as we get older, wouldn’t you agree?
